Planning ahead

Plans for week three took a bit more consideration than the previous two. If we continue the pattern of doing a week every six months or so then we will always be on rations in March and October, which are really very similar in terms of weather and available vegetables. We thought it would be more interesting to include a summer month since different things will be in season and we may feel more inclined to eat the required salad a day!

Which means that the 1943 kitchen will be going on the road as we attempt to stick to rations during a weekend in Eye. Luckily it's a 1940s reenactment so hopefully we can stick to our own rations and won't be offered too many extras, always the hardest part! RAF man will be there talking about flying so I imagine he will want to join the others in military rations anyway, since that way he gets more.

In the meantime I need to find out what the rations and points actually were in August 1943, which may take a bit of digging. If anyone happens to know, please leave a comment!
